Lot 215 - PAIR OF ISRAELI MIXED MEDIA POSTAL STAMP DESIGN MAQUETTES

A pair of original mixed media postal stamp design maquettes, executed in gouache and ink on paper, circa 1965–1975. Created as preparatory proposals for an Israeli Moadim L'Simcha festival issue, each composition features a modernist stylized figurative tableau of four biblical matriarchs bearing traditional attributes: wheat sheaves, a lamb, a water vessel, and flatbread. The designs incorporate hand-rendered borders simulating perforation teeth, with integral trilingual country designations lettered "ישראל", "ISRAEL", and "إسرائيل", accompanied by the Hebrew commemorative texts "מועדים לשמחה" and "האמהות". Unsigned and without visible maker marks. Each sheet is mounted to dark paper and set within a layered mat. Judaica, philately, ephemera, artwork, illustration, prototype, sketch, draft.
