Jean-Yves Commere, French, 1920 to 1986, oil painting on canvas. A view of a park pond. Titled Man Fishing in the Park. Signed lower left. Framed. Sotheby's Arcade Auctions label on the backside. Jean-Yves Commere was a painter, illustrator, and stage designer. From 1936, he took part in numerous collective exhibitions in France and abroad. In 1951, his first personal exhibition took place in Paris, at the Monique de Groote gallery. Commere was titled Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1958 and took part in the Biennale de Venice the same year. The artist commited suicide after his wife died.
