An Art Nouveau patinated bronze sculptural vase created by the French sculptor Charles Vital Cornu, 1851 to 1927. The body of the vessel is adorned with a high relief depiction of a nude female figure in a refined, melancholic pose, organically integrated with botanical motifs. The piece features a body that widens towards the top and two solid handles stylized as branches that flow smoothly into the neck. Signed with the casting signature. Charles Vital Cornu was a renowned French sculptor and draftsman of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He studied at the Beaux Arts de Paris under prominent masters including Francois Jouffroy, Eugene Delaplanche, and Isidore Pils. Known for his fine marble and bronze figures.
