Lot 638 - MINIATURE PAINTING PORCELAIN PLAQUE BRONZE FRAME

A porcelain miniature plaque depicting the Madonna and Child. This is a detail from the famous painting, The Sistine Madonna, 1512 to 1513, by the great Italian High Renaissance artist Raphael Sanzio. The plaque faithfully reproduces the paintings central figure, the Virgin Mary tenderly holding the infant Jesus in her arms. Inscribed, Wagner, lower right. The oval plaque is set within an elegant inner gilded frame. It is mounted on a deep burgundy velvet mat, which is housed in a rectangular bronze frame featuring a gilded cresting in the form of a ribbon tied wreath and torches.
