An oil landscape painting on board titled October Maple and signed Arthur George Lloy, Canadian, 1929 to 1986. Painted at Moore Lake, Ontario, and dated September 1975 on the verso. The composition depicts a wooded lakeside highlighted by a vibrant autumn maple. Arthur George Lloy was born in Melville Cove, now part of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and began drawing at an early age. He studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and St. Mary’s University, under well-known East Coast artists. Arthur Lloy painted over a 30-year career, while also working as a civil servant with the Department of National Defence in Halifax. The artist is best known for his colourful oil landscapes, but also painted seascapes, a natural subject for someone who lived and worked in Halifax. Framed. Landscape Paintings And Art Collectibles.
