Konstantin Fedorovich Yuon, Russian, 1875 to 1958, mixed media painting on paper depicting a panoramic view of Moscows Red Square, featuring the distinctive onion domes of Saint Basils Cathedral and the Kremlin walls. Rendered in a combination of watercolor and gouache on paper, the composition demonstrates the artists characteristic interest in historical Russian architecture and atmospheric perspective. The reverse is inscribed in Cyrillic with the artists name, medium, title, and date 1958. Matted and framed. Bears a paper label on the back side. Signed lower left. Konstantin Fedorovich Yuon is a Russian and Soviet artist, painter, master of landscape, set designer, art theorist, teacher, professor. Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts. Peoples Artist of the USSR. Winner of the Stalin Prize, first degree. Juon began his artistic work as an Impressionist landscape and genre painter with a Symbolist coloring. He also mixed in his landscape paintings elements of Palech and icon painting.
