A famous Russian Soviet era anti war poster Defend Peace!, created by artist A. Lavrov in 1950. The poster depicts an elderly woman wearing a simple headscarf, reminiscent of the Motherland. She calls on people to protect the world from the nuclear threat. In her hands, the woman holds a historic document the Stockholm Appeal, Appeal of the Standing Committee of the World Peace Congress, adopted in March 1950. This document demanded the unconditional prohibition of atomic weapons, the establishment of strict international control, and the declaration of the first government to use them as a war criminal.
