Lot 0018: ANTIQUE RUSSIAN LITHOGRAPH BY LEV BELOUSOV FRAMED

Lev Alexandrovich Belousov 1806 to 1864, Russian, a black and white lithograph on paper depicting two members of the Life Guards Horse Regiment of the Imperial Russian Army. The image shows a mounted officer and a dismounted soldier in their full regalia. Framed. 1830, St. Petersburg, Russia, printed rag paper, dimensions 56 x 44 cm. The print itself is accompanied by descriptive text in Russian, providing details about the regiment. At the bottom there is an inscription in Russian and French. Belousov Lev Alexandrovich was a painter at the Department of Military Settlements. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. He lived in St. Petersburg. Belousov executed lithographs for the publications of A.V. Viskovaty Collection of uniforms of the Russian Imperial Army St. Petersburg 1830, Historical description of clothing and weapons of the Russian troops, Volkstein. The history of the Life Guards sapper battalion, based on drawings by A. I. Charlemagne St. Petersburg 1852. For the album Scenes from Russian folk life, St. Petersburg 1893. Belousovs works by Lev Alexandrovich are represented in the Hermitage and other museum collections. Antique Russian and European Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
