Lot 217 - ANTIQUE IRON SOCKET BAYONET WITH TRIANGULAR BLADE

An antique socket bayonet features a long, tapering blade with a triangular cross-section and deep longitudinal fullers. The blade is joined to a cylindrical socket via a curved offset arm, a design intended to allow for the firing of a musket while the implement remains fixed. The socket is equipped with a standard L-shaped locking slot for attachment to a barrel lug. Constructed from forged iron, this military artifact represents a typical infantry sidearm from the 18th or 19th century.
