An antique watercolor painting on paper by Italian artist Gustavo Simoni 1846 to 1926, depicts a standing Spanish dancer in traditional attire, holding a fan and posed before a neutral background with a decorative textile at the left. Executed with fine detail in the costumes patterns and jewelry. Signed in the lower-left corner, dated 1890. The reverse features an inscription identifying the subject and artist, along with a historical provenance note indicating its sale at Dowells Ltd in Edinburgh on May 31, 1941. Framed. Gustavo Simoni, a renowned Italian painter and watercolorist who became famous for his detailed orientalist scenes. He masterfully combined realism with the vibrant color of the East, becoming one of the key figures of this trend in Italy at the end of the 19th century.
