The oval box is crafted with a detailed guilloche pattern on the lid and sides, bordered by an intricate leaf or floral engraved band. Its central feature is the applied silver-gilt royal cypher, consisting of a crowned letter F. Hallmarked on the base confirming it was made by the prestigious French silversmith A. Aucoc. Andre Aucoc, French, 1856 to 1911, was a highly celebrated Parisian jeweler and silversmith. His firm, Maison Aucoc, was a preferred supplier to European royalty and heads of state, including King Louis-Philippe and Emperor Napoleon III.
