An ancient Byzantine silver ring, ca. 400 to 700 AD, is a remarkable example of early medieval personal adornment, combining geometric metalwork with the vibrant use of gemstones. The ring features a prominent, raised conical bezel. The stone is secured within a recessed setting at the apex of this cone. The silver surface is heavily ornamented with an intricate relief dotted pattern. This includes stylized plant and floral motifs that wrap around the sides of the bezel. Total weight 3.2 g.
