A Russian Orthodox hand painted travel icon of the Mother of God, known as the Seven Lakes Mother of God. The upper register bears an inscription in Church Slavonic. This revered icon, venerated as miraculous, was the principal shrine of the Seven Lakes Mother of God Hermitage. Distinguishing it from the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, the Seven Lakes icon depicts the Virgins right hand raised in a gesture of blessing.
