A Russian Soviet book of poetry titled At the Top of Ones Voice, second edition, by the acclaimed poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. This specific, iconic cover, designed by Soviet graphic artist Solomon Telingater, is from the 1931 edition, published posthumously after Mayakovskys death in 1930. The book contains a famous, powerful introduction to a larger, unfinished poem, in which Mayakovsky addresses comrade descendants, envisioning a future where his revolutionary work will be discovered like ancient, potent weapons. The graphic, constructivist design of the cover with its stark red and black contrast and dynamic figure is a classic example of early Soviet avant-garde art and propaganda.
