A rare Russian Soviet book published in Berlin by Russian emigres shortly after the Revolution. The main book is a literary-critical work by R.V. Ivanov-Razumnik titled Vladimir Mayakovsky Mystery or Bouffe. The book was published in 1922 by the Russian emigre publishing house Skify in Berlin. The cover itself features a striking, avant-garde graphic design designed by acclaimed Soviet graphic artist El Lissitzky. The vertical text on the left spells out A, B, V, G, D, Ye, Zh, the first letters of the Russian alphabet and below that, the full alphabet. Razumnik Vasilyevich Ivanov-Razumnik 1878 to 1946 was a Soviet Russian writer, philosopher and literary critic, best known for his book History of Russian Social Thought and the series of essays on post-Revolution literary life in the Soviet Russia.
