A Russian watercolor on paper genre painting by Leon Bakst, 1866 to 1924. The miniature artwork depicts a genre scene, apparently part of a theatrical play, with a man standing in front of a book. Framed. Signed on the back side. Lev Bakst, an artist, set designer, illustrator, and designer, worked mainly in St. Petersburg and Paris and was one of the trendsetters of European fashion for exoticism and orientalism at the beginning of the 20th century.
