A lot of Burmese lacquered wood betel boxes known as kun it. The cylindrical boxes are crafted from finely woven bamboo or teak wood, coated with several layers of lacquer made from the sap of the local zitsi tree. The decorations are done using the yun engraving technique and features intricate painted scenes, often depicting palace scenes with the king and ministers, in shades of red orange, green, yellow, and black. The item consists of a base, a tight fitting lid, and two internal trays, designed to store various ingredients separately. Such boxes were traditionally used in Burma Myanmar to store ingredients for betel chewing, such as betel leaves, areca nuts, tobacco, cloves and lime.
