This traditional Japanese folding fan features a hand-painted paper leaf with a vibrant gold-toned ground decorated with red peonies, pine trees, and a pair of blue birds. The peonies symbolize wealth and honor, while the pine and pair of birds represent longevity and companionship. The left side of the leaf displays hand-brushed black ink calligraphy in semi-cursive script accompanied by a red artist's seal. The structure is composed of red-stained wooden guards and sticks, though it shows prominent structural damage typical of vintage paper ephemera. Oriental folk art, folding hand fan, bird and flower, peony painting, Asian wall decor, vintage paper fan, Japanese calligraphy, traditional sensu, gold leaf paper.
