Aristeus Frixos, Greek, 1879 to 1951, lithograph on paper. Battle of Yenidje, a key engagement during the First Balkan War on 20 October 1912. Technical inscriptions on the bottom. The lot also includes a lithograph depicting the ceremony of foundation of the Cretan State, headed by Prince George of Greece and Denmark, 1898, titled in the upper left, signed in plate in the lower left. Aristeus Frixos studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Nikiforos Lytras, Georgios Roilos, Spyridon Prosalentis, and Konstantinos Volanakis. He continued his studies at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under Nikolaos Gyzis. Frixos is considered the first Greek symbolist. Collectible Graphic Art Prints, Posters, Greek History.
