Alfred Manessier, French, 1911 to 1993, color lithograph on paper. Abstract composition in blue color palette. Signed in plate in the bottom middle. Undated. Matted and framed. Ferdinand Roten Galleries Baltimore, MD label on the backside. Alfred Manessier created abstract stained-glass windows, tapestries, and paintings which show a deep interest in sacred art. Manessiers use of luminous colors and dynamic shapes merged the influence of Paul Klee with a Christian reverence for light. He studied with Roger Bissiere at the Academie Ranson in Paris. In 1937, Manessier began working with Sonia and Robert Delaunay as part of a team of 50 artists collaborating on large murals in transportation hubs of Paris.
