Hand-colored aquatint on paper from The First Steeplechase on Record series, first published in 1839. Titled Accomplished Smashes and a Run upon the Bank. Exectued ca. 1860s. Engraved by John Harris Jr., 1791 to 1873, an English artist who specialised in pen-and-ink facsimile work and Masonic catechetical designs. Drawn by Henry Alken, 1785 to 1851, an English painter and engraver chiefly known as a caricaturist and illustrator of sporting subjects and coaching scenes. Matted and framed.
