Lot 0008: THREE RUSSIAN ENGRAVINGS BY GAMBURTSEV AND MIRONOV

A group of three Russian engravings. The leftmost engraving depicts a church with a tall spire and a dome, surrounded by trees and a fence. Titled on the backside Curches in Sachalanekee. Signed lower left, V. Gamburtsev. The middle engraving shows a group of people, with a monastery in the background. Titled By the gates of the Monastery at easter. Signed lower left, Gamburtsev. The rightmost engraving features a church with a complex architectural structure. Signed and dated 96 lower to the center. Bears an embossed blind stamp, inscribed Etching of Mironov, St. Petersburg. Each engraving is framed and bears Jackson International labels. Vladimir Alekseevich Gamburtsev 1842 to 1903, Moscow, Russian architect, restorer and architectural historian. He was the first to begin collecting information on the biographies of Moscow architects who worked in large Moscow emergency schools. Provenance: Estate of Eric Jansson, Roswell, Georgia.
