An antique Japanese porcelain vase, Late Meiji era, before 1912. Kutani ware. The vase has a baluster shaped with a wide neck. The piece is decorated with hand painted medallions representing genre scenes with ladies in a garden and a bird surrounded by floral, foliage and swirl motifs with gilded accents. The ware is adorned with a pair of figural handles made in a Foo dog design. The neck and the base of the ware are decorated with gilded geometrical, wavy, and swirl motifs. Marked with Calligraphy, on the bottom. Kutani ware is a style of Japanese porcelain which originated in the former Kaga Province. A unique feature of Kutani ware is the application of fine calligraphy called saiji to the inside of tea and sake cups. Collectible Oriental Asian Porcelain Ware, Tableware And Barware.
