An ancient Gandharan carved stone cosmetic palette. Indo-Greek period, 180 BC to 10 AD. The round palette features a relief image of a goddess with a snake in her hand and two servants on either side at the top and a large two compartments at the bottom. A rhythmic repeating pattern along the edge. A semicircular bottom. Such items were created to separate and mix cosmetics used for decorative and religious purposes.
