Illarion Pryanishnikov, Russian, 1840 to 1894, watercolor on paper painting. A landscape scene with Russian cavalry. Signed in the lower right. Titled Perekop and dated 1892 on the backside. Matted and framed. Illarion Pryanishnikov was one of the founders of the Peredvizhniki artistic cooperative. In 1891-1892 the artist live in Crimea where he was being treated for tuberculosis. Perekop is a part of the Crimean Peninsula where the Crimean War of 1853-1856 partly took place. The subject of the artwork in this lot is inspired by the aforementioned military conflict.
