A set of nine vintage American magazine issues of Der Hammer, Workers Monthly, dating from 1931 to 1933. Der Hammer, The Hammer, was a Yiddish-language periodical linked to Morgen Freiheit, Morning Freedom, the influential communist daily founded in New York City in 1922. These issues reflect the vibrant role of the Yiddish-speaking community in leftist political activism in the U.S. during the early twentieth century.
