An antique 19th-century cold painted cast spelter metal figurine. The figurine depicts a standing Arab man and holding a sword against a designed architectural backdrop resembling an ornate archway, replete with decorative motifs that reflect Middle Eastern influences. Made in the manner of Louis Hottot, French, 1829 to 1905. Signed or marked with casting. Embossed mark on the base side. Louis Hottot was a sculptor who specialised in producing Orientalist scenes and figures. Most of Hottots works were exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1885 until 1898.
