A fine antique French patinated bronze African Venus sculpture by Charles de Marnyhac, 1840 to 1897. Circa the late 19th century, 1880s. The large portrait figure features a young, semi-nude woman kneeling on one knee and holding several palm leaves joined together and a flattened, round pink marble bowl high above her head. It is raised on a cylindrical bronze pedestal topped with a pink marble base. The sculpture was exhibited by Marnyhac during the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1878. This piece is based on the bronze bust originally created by Charles Henry Joseph Cordier, French, 1827 to 1905.
