A WWII Russian Soviet Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky, second class. The order features a portrait of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Hetman leader of the Ukrainian Cossack Hetmanate, in the center surrounded by a wreath with a saber against a background of diverging rays in the shape of a multi-pointed star. The order was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 10.10.1943. The Order is awarded to commanders and soldiers of the Red Army and Navy, leaders of partisan detachments, and partisans who have demonstrated particular determination and skill in operations to defeat the enemy, high patriotism, courage, and selflessness in the struggle to liberate Soviet land from the German invaders.
