An antique 19th century Russian Orthodox icon representing the Mother of God of Arapet. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board, gilt accents. Saint Anna, Saint Nikita and an angel flank the scene. The original Arapet icon famously appeared as St. Thomas was evangelizing Ethopia, Arabia and India. One noteworthy distinction on this iconography is that three angles appear, instead of three stars, on the shoulders and head of the Theotokos. Golden frame. Religious Christian Collectibles, Russian Icons.
